There are plenty of hostels in Amsterdam if you are okay with staying in them. My advice, you get what you pay for if its cheap there is a reason for it. Because I am a little older I knew I didn’t want to stay in one of the hostels in the center of downtown because I wouldn’t get much sleep. And I need sleep. I chose to stay at ClinkNOORD. It is on the other side of the river but there is a free 24-hour ferry that runs every 10 minutes right to downtown Amsterdam. I stayed in a co-ed room with 8 beds without a bathroom. There were bathrooms in various places in each hall. For 6 nights it cost 233,00 euro or around $264.00 roughly. The hostel had its own bar/restaurant & all you can eat breakfast in the lower level. It had a beautiful atrium. I definitely recommend this hostel. They also offered several activities.
